Make eyebrows look 3 dimensional with Thick Medium from Genesis Paints. Mix your own Genesis paint colors and then add Thick Medium to make those tiny little baby eyebrows stand out like real hair.
To use: apply it with a short, narrow and stiff brush over baked-on eyebrows. You can add as many layers as you want until you get the effect you desire. It usually requires two layers to get the hair-like texture you want.

Once you have a great set of paints then you need just the right set of brushes. Which ones should you use? What kind of bristles should they have? How stiff or how soft should they be? These are all good questions. You will be glad to know that this set of brushes is the answer to all of those questions.
These brushes were hand-picked by Secrist's own staff reborner and sculptor, Stephanie Sullivan. With this set you'll have all you need to get started in painting your reborn baby. If you would like to learn how to use each brush and the secrets to making a beautifully painted baby then pick up our new video, "The Art of Newborning". You will get to see Stephanie Sullivan in action bringing her newborn babies to life with her special brush techniques and methods. A paint brush is only as good as the technique it's used with so watch Stephanie and gain new insights into the art of reborning.
If you would like to learn how to use these most effectively see our DVD training series, "The Art of Newborning."

The oven thermometer used by Stephanie Sullivan in our newborning DVD.
Get good results using the right tools and equipment. The Genesis thermometer is recommended by Genesis Heat-Set Paints as the best and most accurate. It is inexpensive and works well for setting paints on reborn babies. Don't just trust the numbers on your ovens dial. Temperature settings vary from oven to oven even among the same make and model ovens.
This oven thermometer is like a low cost insurance policy. Don't let your oven over-cook or even melt your precious vinyl baby. Use a good oven thermometer.

These porcelain paint palettes are very hard to find but we have them!
When mixing Genesis paints we recommend that artists avoid using plastic palettes. The strong bonding qualities of Genesis paints can react with certain plastic palettes and ruin the paint! That's why Stephanie Sullivan uses a porcelain palette in our instructional DVD.
These porcelain palettes have a kiln fired gloss coating that will last a life time and never wear out or react with your doll making paints. They are also very easy to clean after use.

Have you ever had the problem of your doll baby getting too shiney as you add more paint? Or maybe you cooked her a little too long and the shine came up that way. Some types of vinyl are more prone to becoming shiny than others are. Secrist vinyl resists the shine but if you need to tone down the shine then Heat-Set Matte Varnish is what you need. The Genesis company makes this wonderful product so you know it works well. Accidents do happen and dolls can get too shiney so it's good to have this on hand for such occasions.

Our mop brush is one of the most popular brushes used in the reborning process. Stephanie Sullivan recommends in our Genesis Painting DVD that every artist should have several of these important brushes on hand at all times!
Many steps involve the mop brush so we recommend you have 3 or more so you don't have to clean the brush out after each little step. Having several 1/2 inch mop brushes can save you time and aggravation.

Having the right tools is everything when reborning or newborning a baby doll. In our instructional DVD, "Painting With Genesis Heat-set Paints," Stephanie Sullivan uses a 3/4 inch Mop Brush for several procedures including the "dry blushing" technique. With a full 3/4 inch size brush head you will be able to blend the blushing more evenly and effectively than smaller brushes.
Best of all you can use the same tool Stephanie uses as she takes you through our Genesis training video. Watch her technique then follow along with your own 3/4 inch mop paint brush!

How many times have you been painting only to be overcome by the revolting odor given off by your paint thinner? Now you can use something that won't chase you out of the room. This is the paint thinner recommended and used by Stephanie Sullivan in our Newborning DVD.
Stephanie teaches that Odorless thinner is ideal for using with Genesis Heat-Set Paints. She loves odorless thinner and you will too.
Due to government regulations Odorless Thinner can only be shipped by UPS ground.
We cannot ship Odorless Thinner outside the continental United States. Artist quality odorless mineral spirit can be purchased from local art/craft stores throughout Europe. We recommend the Bob Ross brand.
